extremism against cartoonists

Have we seen this yet? It's kind of dated, but the new news is that the cartoonist (Mark Fiore) is receiving death threats. Over this. This cartoon.

Remember the Danish cartoonist who was nearly murdered by a crazed Somali Muslim over his depiction of the prophet Muhammed?

As Fiore says on his blog, 'muslim extremist, meet tea party extremist.'

What do we call death threats over political statements again? Oh yeah. Terrorism.

If we needed more proof that some of the teabaggers are dangerous nuts who take seriously the irresponsible rhetorical fire-bombing by the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, Malkin, Palin and Bachmann, we need look no further. This also illustrates the disconnect these people have between what they say they stand for and what they actually stand for: after all, if they were truly standing up for the Constitution and our freedoms, they wouldn't seek to silence voices with which they disagree.

No, extremist fundamentalists all have more in common with one another than they do with anyone else. That is to say, the actions and the rhetoric of extreme fundamentalist Muslims is more similar to that of extreme fundamentalist right-wingers in this country than right-wingers are to moderates or any other Americans for that matter. Same with fundamentalist Israelis and any other fundamentalist group, including the fundamentalist Muslims they despise: all of these groups seek only to go back, to tear down, to control, and to destroy any progress the human race has made since their ancient, ridiculous books were handed down by illiterate tribesmen. They seek a return to an imaginary simpler time, and anyone who stands in their way or even politely disagrees is deserving of a violent end.

After all, if God has told you that you're supposed to be the big winner, that your way of life and belief system is the bestest and rightest, and yet you see others functioning in the world just fine without your beliefs, then maybe it's not such a great leap to imagine that God wants you to destroy them.

fox news: infromative

Found these on yesbutnobutyes, and just had to have them, don't you know.
For once, I have to agree with one of these sign-holders. Thank you indeed for this, Fox News. We can count on you to keep these people as infromed as ever.

I've been on a few dates where it became immediately apparent that there was to be no pubic option that night, whether I was the single payer or not.

And then there is the kinghell badass to beat all badasses of signage. He cannot spell, he lost the thread of whatever it was he was trying to say about halfway through this magnum opus, and he looks like he might be on a sex offender registry somewhere.

Dig his crazy vibe, ladies, and his crazier grin. He's ready for some teabaggin'.

shepard smith, my new hero

Finally found the embed on the Shep Smith blowup from the other day. It's one of those rare, shining moments of honesty on Fox News. Must be that ol' Shep hasn't been drinking the Roger Ailes/Fox Noise/GOP Kool-Aid lately. Although, if I remember correctly, he has grown increasingly disgusted with the bullshit spewed out 24/7 by his co-workers.

How much you wanna bet the Fox News brass uses this on-air oopsie as a wedge to ease Smith out of his contract? Gotta keep the troops in line, after all, and any opinion other than the pre-approved one really freaks these people out. viz:

one more teabag

It was a crisis of competnce indeed.

One more for today before I try to get some actual work done. Found this via Kos, but I've been reading Marc Cooper for years via The Nation. Here's his advice for those who were going to attend the Teabagger demonstrations the other day:

"Go to a hobby store. Buy a scale model of a U.N. One-World-Government Black Helicopter and a tube of glue. Toss the model kit. Sniff the entire tube of glue. You're all set for the party."

Oh yes! And he goes on to point out what I think the mainstream managed to fully and completely miss during all the fooferal surrounding the most massive(!) demonstrations of public teabagging since the heyday of Studio 54:

'And now this. Whip out your Lipton and don your tinfoil hat and join the protest against ... against ... against what exactly?

...

So, if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor, what's the beef behind today's protests? The Obama administration is cutting taxes for all except the very richest of Americans. Reduced withholding is already showing up in millions of paychecks.'

Thank you. Once again the right wing whackos--generally lower to middle class--have allowed themselves to be co-opted by the big money interests to fight against their own interests.

I guess the constant republican chipping away at education funding and teachers had a point to it after all. The best sheeple are dumb sheeple.

teabagger morans

From Stinque:

Yes, the descent into stupidity is certainly our right. Now, i'm sure there are plenty of examples out there of left-wing idiots with poorly written and poorly spelled signs at protests, but have ya ever noticed how many of these show up at the wingnut rallies? :)

Go to the stinque link above to see several examples, and read a really funny article about them.
