As usual 'The Simpsons' nails it.
Also as usual, Bill O'Reilly has his loofa-lined panties in a twist. He simply cannot believe that a comedy show would dare to point out something that is obvious to all but the most dunderheaded, blinkered moron: Fox News caters to morons. Heaven forfend!
And here's Bill and Beck (sounds like a morning 'Zoo Crew' type of radio duo, no?) wondering why in the world Jimmy Carter would claim that Fox News distorts the facts. That's just crazy talk.
Crazy like the world is turning crazy! Buy gold! Buy a survival kit! You never know when the godless atheists and their brown people cohorts might rise up and toss us good, rich, white Christians out of power!

hell has frozen over, folks
If you saw The Daily Show last night, you saw Jon Stewart exposing the latest in pathetic Fox Noise hackery--in covering last week's Michelle Bachman loonfest tea-bagger rally on the Hill, Stewart and his team noticed that something looked very different in various clips:
Now, of course it's not news that Fox lies. What's news is that, hell has frozen over. Sean Hannity has actually apologized. Er, sorta:
What's funny to me is that even in admitting his producers cut in footage of the much larger rally back in September, Hannity still can't say they deliberately misled people. He has to play this 'mistakes were made' canard, a mistake which would be really hard to do--taking old footage and running it as new. And as Chez Pazienza said on HuffPost, Hannity managed to come off as '...both contrite and a smarmy little prick.'
What's more striking to me is that he didn't really apologize to his viewers, at least not for what he should really be sorry for: assuming they are idiots. That should be the first thing he says, you would think: 'Folks, sorry we assumed you were all pathetic sheep with no will of your own or ability to think critically about anything you see here. We assumed you are so stupid you would swallow anything we dangle in front of you.'
Of course, you'll never hear that from Hannity and his ilk; they are getting rich off of that assumption, and it has served them well for a long time.
ADDENDUM: the hannity vid seems to have been nuked, but here's a link to another version, for however long it lasts.

a brit's take on US news
I had never heard of this guy before running across this vid which I found originally on Digg, but he's got it dead-on. His name is Charlie Brooker, and he apparently has a show called 'Newswipe.'
He starts with a few slaps at an infamous clip where an anchorman is squabbling with a field reporter during a live segment, and one particularly self-righteous Keith Olbermann clip (yes, as much as I love the guy, and as many times as he nails it in the seething rage department, he also goes overboard sometimes, I admit).
But then Brooker moves swiftly into the really, really funny territory: you guessed it, Faux News.

I don't know why I hadn't thought of this one before:
"To a dumb foreigner like me, all the Fox News anchors look like characters in some 80s frat-house comedy."
Sean Hannity as the 'uptight jock bully..with his whiny peevish demeanor;' Bill O'Reilly as the 'disapproving high school principal;' Glenn Beck as 'the wacky neighbor from a variety sit-com...'
Very funny stuff, and worth watching on a rainy Saturday morning. :)

Hey, just FYI, (and only if you feel like it) but if you read this space regularly, or irregularly, as I would imagine most of my friends do, lol, drop me a comment as to whether you would prefer more political stuff, personal stuff (i.e. random ramblings, pics, etc.) funny stuff found on the web, or more of my fiction. As I look back on my posts I realize that a shrink would have a field day with how all over the place I am with my posts.
Schizophrenia, anyone? :)
Peace.
