Yeah, yeah, I know, the album (The King of Limbs) became available last Saturday, so I'm way behind here. Plus this weird-ass vid of Thom Yorke dancing has been making the rounds and been remixed into a variety of even weirder songs. (I think 'Bird is the Word' is my favorite, in a tear-my-eyes-from-their-sockets kind of way.)
But today was the first day I had a chance to finally get my download of the record opened and actually listen to it. Pretty good stuff, IMHO. Fuck the haters--you know, the second you record your own Radiohead album on a par with, say, Kid A, or OK Computer, you can start screeching about how everything they've done since sucks ass. In places, it's variously haunting, energetic, creepy, rhythmically challenging, uplifting, and enervating--everything we've come to expect from Radiohead.
