wm. shakes abridged

Had a great student/preview night for 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)' last night, and really looking forward to opening tonight. What an amazing difference it is having an audience, especially for a show like this that is based on sight gags and lots of frenzied humor. No matter who the director/AD/tech people are who watch you throughout the rehearsal process, the 18th time you've seen the same joke, it's a little tough to laugh.

And the other amazing thing I can never get over in theatre is how different the energy is when the audience is with you. It seems either trite, or all hippy-dippy, depending on my viewpoint, but the people in the room with you when you're performing change the show in some fundamental way.

Anyway, hoping to see lots of people tonight for opening! Wear your shakespearean tights for a special discount. ;)
